Air Temp: 9F at 9:15AM….. 27F at 1:30PM [high of day]….Course in full sun starting ~11:45am till 2pm
Snow Temps: -5F ~ -1F 9:30AM …….. 15F ~ 20F in shade at bottom of courseTaken with IR Fluke Meter mod. 561 calibrated for snow
Top of course is ~900′ , or, [on clear day -5F] so, 4F at 9AM and 22F at 1:30pm. Snow Temp on top ~10 and 10F for low.
ALL Major weather outlets had the forecast wrong for today! Ski-Loveland…. OnTheSnow,…snow-forecast.com…. all wrong! Forecasted temps significantly LOWER then actual for day ~20F off. Closest Forecast was NOAA, Weather.gov was still on the low side by ~3F. A warm trend is moving in faster then expected, re-check forecast later tonight!
Its going to be a clear night [meaning on-top cold snow], low humidity, full sun on Thursday! Dewpoint is low enough not to saturate the snow.
Suggest waxing for a snow temp ~5F to 0F coldest AM on Top, with afternoon snow ~15F on top; Bottom could see snow temps as high as 25-28 in the sun ~2pm….. Cold base wax [blue], Ultramix, etc. Overlay with some fluoro additive in the afternoon….
