We all know great deals on ski equipment can be found on Ebay. However, high transaction fees, wholesale / channel restrictions, and the fact that Ski Race gear is very specialized means Ski Racers might consider other options to transact race stuff.
SidelineSwap is one site that specializes in transacting ski race gear; specifically, Sideline has many listings for used Ski Race equipment as well as New Demo and closeouts. Even more, listings can be found for WorldCup extras, professional tuning equipment, Leki, POC, and many others.
Sideline is not an “auction site”. Most listings feature an “ask” price, and the buyer is free to make an offer.
Standard transaction fee is a flat 9% with a 3% additional charge for payment [credit card] processing.
SidelineSwap acts as a middle-man / escrow holder of the monies that are released to the seller once the buyer confirms the item has been received in good condition.
Listing used race gear on Sideline is a just as easy as Ebay using the app.
One word of general caution when bargain hunting “killer” deals on skis and race apparel from any auction / listing site: buyer beware! Unscrupulous sellers do exist! Factory “blemish” / second skis are often sold as “new”. A ski might have a manufacturing defect that results in premature ski delimitation or failure not under warrantee. In addition, East European, China / Asian knock-offs of big ticket apparel do exist that mimic the real thing right down to the tags! Do your best to ask questions: if the deal is too good to be true, or, the seller is not making any sense…. pass on the deal!
